Benchmarking

The first step was to analyse existing products:

  • What do whitening products look like?
  • What product features from European brands are well perceived in China?
  • Etc

The benchmarking of the competition allowed us to gain a point of view on the design problem:

  1. Sober packaging design, with clear lines and soft geometric shapes.
  2. Embossed integration of the Umira logo onto the caps of the products.
  3. Materials: plastic & aluminium finish

An iterative design process

We followed an iterative design process:

  1. Express: Brainstorming sessions generate as many product concepts as possible.
  2. Test: The prototypes are shown to users for feedback.
  3. Cycle: The feedback is used as an input for new brainstorming sessions
